‘Collectables’ by Will Woods and Amy Scott-Pillow
This project was supported by the Zest collective as part of the ‘Mutual Mentorships’ scheme created for the Roadmap project. ZING and ZEST artists collaborated in pairs, spending a self-directed day together, exploring ideas and learning from each other’s practices. The scheme enabled artists to collaborate without any expectations or boundaries.

“A playful take on the desire to collect, form and arrange kindred things. Objects were made in conversation between the artists, size and shapes dismissed and accepted through quick making. The selection process found objects in the clay, forms between kitsch Cornish houses and pebbles on the beach, between made and found. The quickly formed ‘Collectables’ are infinitely rearranged on a shelf, made from the same material, but slowly and methodically. Deformed by the firing process, whereas the collectables kept their forms more truthfully.”
Visitors were invited to re decorate the shelves and move around the collectables.
