A project was initiated in January 2019 for magazine Mausolus. Involving a lonely visit to Southampton’s only mausoleum in an attempt to connect with the affluent dead. The original poem and output has been reworked into a zine format march 2024

Mausoleum / Ashes
Mausoleum
JESUS SAID UNTO HER
I AM THE RESSURECTION AND THE LIFE
HE THAT BELIVETH
IN ME THOUGH HE WERE DEAD
The stone is cold and
cherubs hover above me triumphantly,
I knock on the door.
How can wood be so numbing?
They are only dead below and there is no one to answer.
Nichols Mausoleum Old Cemetery SW
Bluebell wood
Ivy undergrowth
Paths blocked
and slippery
Nought left but
few scant
slippery memories.
Grandad's ashes - Crematorium - A12
Ashes
ALL GO TO THE SAME PLACE
ALL COME FROM DUST,
AND TO DUST
ALL RETURN
