WHERE? HERE!
"WHERE? HERE!" forms part of the Arches Studios Legacy project, it shouts at the public and directs to the party! Drawing on my all time favourite font and giving it a circus theme, the sign is in your face and LOUD quite opposed to the use of it in 'THE HOPE' and to it's title of 'Stymie' which means to prevent or hinder progress. With letters falling over due to the wind of the weekend event, then being picked up and replaced by strangers and friends alike, it formed as an interaction of general thoughtfulness and community.
The sign was commissioned in response to visitors having a hard time finding our studios location in a tucked away industrial estate under the bridge in the city centre. WHERE? was placed right at the entrance, visible from the crossroads and traffic lights on approach, HERE! being placed further up the road where smiling artists would greet you and tell you all about the days plans and activities.
This year, no one could be confused if they had found the right place or not!
